And no, I'm not counting work.
When we first heard that a couple of our friends were going to hold their wedding reception in Melaka, our spidey senses began tingling at the thought of a potential roadtrip. You know you've got the perfect travel buddies when all you need is a look, a smile from across the table and a growing sense of adventure in the belly. We were on!

Melaka had a minute-by-minute highlight reel unlike any other, and one can certainly appreciate all the hard work that has gone into making the place a bona-fide tourism cash cow. The sense of rejuvenation is almost tangible and it's always great to see a proud city embracing a real sense of self. Definitely a must visit for that spare weekend, even if a one night stay.

My personal favourites: (1) the food (Sg Duyung Seafood and Perhentian Kuih Kampung. Hit me baby one more time!); (2) clear road signs (coming from KL it's a refreshing change indeed); (3) the people (contrary to some of my unfortunate preconceived notions, they were actually some of the friendliest in the country); and (4) Jonkers Street (see it by day to appreicate the architecture and then come again at night to see vibrant markets and pubs).

Our friends' wedding was just sublime. We watched in awe as they walked down the aisle looking so great in each other's arms and happier than we have ever seen them. It was worth the time out we took to share this special moment with them and as we sat together at our table and reflected on the moments we've shared with friends we haven't seen in the longest time, we were truly happy. They had also requested for me to sing a song during the reception and I was only too happy to oblige. I felt so honoured to be part of their special day!

As the week began with Valentine's day (and coincidentally, an anniversary too) it was set to become an amorous affair anyway. I was taken to a very romantic date at a little place called Cafe Cafe (review on VKeong's blog). An absolute charmer of a place where you might feel transported back to 1930s Paris. The ambience was perfect as the glimmery crystal hung low from the ceiling and Edith Piaf sang softly in the background while you dined on extremely delicious French cuisine. A little warning though: do not be fooled by the surrounding area. It's much nicer indoors than where you parked your car.
| We were given lovely macaroons as takeaways. I have never been a big fan but these are scrumptious! As you can tell, I couldn't resist helping myself to one before taking the pic! |
As all other goods things, this too had to come to an end and I had to descend back to earth where I plunged myself into work. Only by day of course, because by night I was busy on other more pressing matters.
Like knitting for example.

I also bought something which I shouldn't have.
| A good excuse for a really, really good party. |
Meanwhile, I will continue to plan things.
are the macaroons nice? :)
